The Majestic is an elevated brick building located at 445 Merrimack Street in Lowell, Massachusetts. It is conveniently located in downtown Historic Lowell and close to public transportation. The building consists of 34 apartments, 31 one-bedroom and 3 studios.
All apartments are fully applianced and offer intercom security system, master TV antenna, wall-to-wall carpeting, cable TV hook-ups, oversized closets and garbage disposal. The building also contains laundry facilities, and 24-hour emergency maintenance service.
All residents and applicants must qualify under the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program with incomes at or below the 60% of median income levels. The Majestic's eligibility is restricted to individuals/families who meet the income guidelines. Appropriate apartment size is determined by local building codes.

Rents: Residents pay $845 for a one bedroom and $717 for a studio. A security deposit equal to one month’s rent is required at move-in. Heat and hot water are included in the rent. Section 8 vouchers are accepted and residents pay the greater of 30% of their adjusted income. Rents are subject to change without notice.
Priorities/Preferences that may affect status on our waiting list include an individual or family who is:
- homeless due to displacement by natural forces;
- homeless due to displacement by public action (urban renewal);
- homeless due to displacement by public action (sanitary code violation); and
- involuntarily displaced by domestic violence.
Our Resident Selection Plan requires that our office thoroughly screen all applicants to determine suitability for residency. This includes a review of the following past behaviors:
- ability and willingness to pay the rent;
- ability and willingness to comply with the lease;
- ability and willingness to care for or provide for care of the unit;
- ability and willingness to cooperate with the staff.
Accordingly, our office will perform the screening listed below:
- landlord check
- credit references
- criminal check
- income and asset verification
